Emma was born and raised in the farmlands of the Midwestern United States. She obtained an Associate in Science degree from Lincoln Trail College, becoming the first person in her family to earn a college degree. Emma continued her education at Southern Illinois University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Organic Chemistry. Emma attended her first year of law school at the University of Houston and her final two years at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she earned a Juris Doctorate cum laude in 2008.
While in law school, Emma became a mediator in the State of Texas. She also served as the Executive Articles Editor for the Indiana Health Law Review and was a research assistant for two health law professors. Emma has interned with the Indiana Court of Appeals.
Emma has been licensed to practice in Texas since 2008 and was licensed to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office in 2010. Emma became licensed to practice in Florida in 2018 after passing the Florida Bar.
Emma is married with three children. She is also the proud pet parent of a Weimaraner.
